Genesis 7 & 8 Gen 7:1-24 KJV 1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. 2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. 3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. 5 And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. 6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. 7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. 8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, 9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. 13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; 14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. 15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. 16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in. 17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. 18 And the waters prevailed1, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. 19 And the waters prevailed1 exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. 20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail1; and the mountains were covered. 21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: 22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. 23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
24 And the waters prevailed1 upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.
Gen 8:1-22 KJV 1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged; 2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; 3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abatedH2637.2 4 And the ark 3rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
5 And the waters decreasedH2637 continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
6 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: 7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; 9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; 11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. 12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more. 13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. 15 And God spake unto Noah, saying, 16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee. 17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth. 18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him: 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

H1396 gâbar gaw-bar' "And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth,.... Still they became greater and more powerful, as to bear up the ark, so to cast down houses, trees, &c. by the continual rains that fell, though perhaps they were not so violent as before, and by the constant eruptions of water out of the earth:" Commentary by John Gill

The Hebrew Calendar [Calculated] WithinThe ScripturesbyEd CostanzaOctober 2011
For a pdf version click here IntroductionThis paper has been a work-in-progress and it has been several years in the making. It is for the sake of the Churches of God and for His people that it is presented here and will be made available for distribution upon request. It has come into being because of the various calendars that are being followed around the world by the people of God in an effort to keep the word of God. I must first emphasize that I believe the various calendar methods that are being observed by the people of God are being kept out of a zeal and love for God and not out of a desire to deceive another or to gain control over them. Secondly, I must emphasize I believe the Spirit of God has revealed the following proof that there exist within the scriptures a calendar that verifies the correct calendar for today for the people of God. At the end of this paper I will cite my references of how this paper has come about. The purpose of this work is to give more information and truth to those who want to know the truth about which calendar we are to follow. For those who already believe the Hebrew Calendar is the correct calendar we are to follow this paper will provide additional proof that it is correct, and that it is of God.
The scriptural proof of our calendar is found in Genesis chapters seven and eight in the account of Noah and the flood. God has woven a verifiable calendar within these two chapters that point to a calendar that is identical to today. The name of this calendar has been changed by the current day people of God from simply the Hebrew Calendar to the Calculated Hebrew Calendar in an effort to distinguish it from all other calendar forms [emphasis mine]. In order for us to acquire an unquestionable proof that these scriptures clarify the question of a calendar in the bible I feel I must account for every day that is numbered in the Genesis account of the flood by marking these days off on a calendar (Hebrew) that I have copied and placed on the pages to follow. When we are done counting these days on this calendar and comparing them with the Genesis account of the flood it will be revealed to us by God that His calendar existed from the beginning (at least from the flood) without change unto this day. In the following pages of the calendar the top numbers are the days of each month where the bottom numbers are a cumulative total beginning on the 1st day of the the 1st year in the year of the flood which is the 600th year of Noah's life. I will list the bottom numbers only on the 1st day of each week for the sake of time. The middle numbers when they occur will be the count for each period of time stated in the scriptures such as the 40 days and nights of rain and the 150 days the waters prevailed and the 150 days the waters abated.
Note that in a regular year Adar may be called "Adar I" or simply "Adar" whereas in a leap year the two Adars are called "Adar I" and "Adar II".
Note that in a regular year Adar may be called "Adar I" or simply "Adar" whereas in a leap year the two Adars are called "Adar I" and "Adar II".
Gen 8:13 KJV And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
The numeral references in Genesis 7 & 8 are a subset of numbers within the calendar. They are not given to us to use to arrive at the sum of 385 days which is equal to the length of the 600th year of Noah's life (600 year). These references are: Genesis 8:5, 6, 10, 12 and 14. There are four (4) sets of numbers we are to add together to arrive at the length of the 600th year. They are: forty six (46) days from the 1st day of the 1st month of the 600th year +forty (40) days and nights of rain + one hundred fifty (150) days that the waters prevailed upon the earth + one hundred fifty (150) days the waters abated from off the earth = three hundred eighty six (386) days. Three hundred eighty six (386) brings us to the 1st day of the 1st month of Noah's 601st year (601st). Subtract this 1st day of the 1st month from the total count of 386 days and this will equal 385 days which are the total number of days in the 600th year of Noah's life. I have listed this sequence of numbers in the chart below. Chart for the 600th year of Noah's Life
The fact that there are 385 days in the year known as the 600th year of Noah's life could only mean that this year was both a leap year and a full year. No other calendar system has a year of 385 days except the Hebrew Calendar (Calculated Hebrew Calendar also referred to as the postponements). All other non-Hebrew Calendars (in use by the people of God who are opposed to using the Calculated Hebrew Calendar) in use will only have a 354 day year or a 384 day year in a leap year. The Hebrew Calendar (Calculated Hebrew Calendar) will have years with 6 possibilities. The six possibilities are listed in the chart to the left. Since the biblical year we refer to as the 600th year of Noah's life has 385 days it can only mean that the Hebrew Calendar (Calculated Hebrew Calendar) was in use at the time of the flood.
Dan Day gave a bible study on the First Day of Unleavened Bread 2011 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The title was Calendar Bits & Pieces. He said he received his information from a paper he had in his files from Don Roth. One segment of Dan's study covered Genesis 7 and 8. Dan showed us that God has placed a calendar within the historical recordings of the flood. He verbally added up for us the number of days for each of the events for the 600th year of Noah's life to show us that this year was a verifiable calendar that proves the Hebrew Calendar existed then just as it does today. I immediately understood what Dan was saying. I also agreed with the conclusion. But I began to doubt myself when I was adding the column of numbers in my head and even on paper. I was doubtful that I would make an error in my addition. I questioned: should I exclude the 17th day of the 2nd month; should I subtract the 1st day of the 1st month of the 601st year? Also, I was not sure if the numbers listed in Genesis 8:5, 6, 10, 12 and 14 should be ignored in the total count or included. I decided that I did not want to depend on the writings of other men to prove the existence of a calendar in the history of the flood, but wanted to verify the scriptures for myself. I put aside what was spoken of by Dan, and written by Don and others and went directly to the scriptures as listed in Genesis 7 and 8 and used the word of God to prove that there was a calendar listed in the account of the Flood So I set about to establish a visual calendar and to assign the days listed in each event to an actual day on a Hebrew calendar so as to account for every day listed in God's scriptures. I am now satisfied that my count and the count of Dan Day and Don Roth is accurate. We therefore can only conclude that the Hebrew Calendar that is referred to as the Calculated Hebrew Calendar that is also referred to by others as the postponement calendar was in existence at the time of the flood and continued to exist down through the years and it exists today.
