Food Pantry
The Church of God, NM became an agency partner with Road Runner Food Bank in November 2006 to help feed the hungry. The Church of God, NM will be distributing food boxes on an emergency basis.
All food is free; there is no requirements to receive food boxes. Except for the TEFAP (listed in the next paragraph) there is not an income eligibility to receive food from our food pantry. All food is free.
The Church of God, NM qualified to distribute the government commodity food program (TEFAP). Generous portions are available to those people whose incomes meet the federal guidelines. Gross Income Limits begin at $1,511 per month for a household of one. To see who qualifies, click on the following link: Monthly Gross Income limits for households of various sizes.
All the food we distribute is free. You will not be asked to participate in any religious activities, take literature, participate in prayer or be contacted in the future in regard to any religious event. Your name will not be put on a list to be sold or disseminated except as the government TEFAP program requires for those people who choose to receive those food items per the TEFAP guidelines.
One part of our mission as outlined in the word of God is to:
Gal 6:2,10: Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. (10) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
How the Food Pantry is Supported:
First, food is made available from Roadrunner Food Bank to agency partners on a cost sharing basis. Milk, bread and produce are free; all other items are paid for at a heavily discounted rate. Second, the Church of God, NM donates money monthly to fund food purchases, pay for building rent, electricity and special purchases. Third, church members and friends of the Church of God, NM volunteer their time and equipment to pickup, transport, stock and distribute food weekly and make emergency food deliveries. Fourth, church members and friends of the Church of God, NM donate money for food purchases and special needs purchases. Fifth, church members and friends of the Church of God, NM raise money from church sales and fund raisers for food purchases and special needs.
How to support the Food Pantry:
Volunteer.
Show others that you care and pick up a food box for them and for your self. We have those who are shut-ins that need assistance and someone just to sit and visit. You may have a family, friend or neighbor who needs a little extra help or some encouragement. Show others that you care and take them something special. We try to stock special items for the elderly, widows, children and orphans. Let us know when any of these special situations exist.
Financial assistance is appreciated. All money given to support the Food Pantry must be earmarked on the check, money order or envelope that the money is for the Food Pantry. Make checks payable to the: Church of God, NM. You can mail your tithes, offerings and gifts to the mailing address below. Directions to the Food Pantry: |
